This is an amazing pairing.
Side story. I worked at The Limited for a short time after college. I always loved the brand’s practical approach to fashion. Our woman wasn’t a mall rat or even a heavy shopper. Our woman came into the Limited with purpose. She was a professional looking for clothes she could wear to work, complete with tops that could double for weekend wear. She bought the same pants over and over, switching maybe the length for spring. For that reason, it was one of the easiest jobs in my 10+ year retail history.
Of course none of this is terribly exciting, which is why it is also the one of the few retail jobs where my paycheck was not injected directly back into the company’s bottom line. This collaboration with Scandal is the perfect way to inject some excitement back into The Limited without alienating the core customer. Yes, new shoppers will stop by for the collaboration but it’s already loyal customers will be just as satisfied with the beautiful trench coats and suits. Olivia Pope is the Limited woman.
I think the collaboration may be a SMIDGE late for a full flourish. Scandal was at outlandish at it’s best last season. I’m not sure the original excitement around the series will carry on into the next season, and carry the once swooning audience into The Limited. I think Saks had better timing last fall with it’s Scandal Collaboration.
It’s been a very full day in fashion. I try to keep this thing short, but indulge me a bit.
